It has been a while since we added anything to the blog, mainly because we have been just too busy, but we now have something to share and another member of the family to announce!
We made that big announcement almost 20 long weeks ago. Wow, we were so excited then, but now we are just beyond ourselves...
Our new little sister. Cienna Caroline arrived 11 days early on June 1st at 3:55am weighing in at 6 lbs 11oz and measuring 19.5 inches tall.
We adore her already.
She loves to suck her thumb, hand and fist! Isn't see so cute!
Here I am meeting her for the first time!
She is the best cuddlier
I love her!
She had the longest fingernails ever and scratched her face up before they got her in her little hand booties. Still the cutest little girl ever though!
So you may be wondering why daddy is looking a little sick in this picture... Well do we have a story to share with you! So Mommy had seen the doctor on Thursday and he said that she was progressing and that he would be surprised if she were to make it to her due date. So she went home and told daddy and he was a bit nervous. That night she started having contractions, but they were really far apart. They continued every 30 mins all of Friday until daddy got home. They put us to bed and then that is when things really started to get going. When the contractions were about 5 mins apart and pretty uncomfortable, mommy decided that it was probably time to head to the hospital. They arrived about 9pm and they monitored mommy for an hour... she was making some slow progress but had dilated to almost a 3 and was 100% effaced. They put her in a delivery room and gave her her epidural. It was around 1am and they said that mommy and daddy should try and get some rest. They laid down and slept a bit. The nurses came in every hour to help mommy roll over. At three o'clock the nurse came in to check mommy and she was fully dilated and her water had broken. It was time to push! Daddy woke up fast and was ready to help, when all of the sudden, he says he isn't sure exactly what triggered it, but he saw some blood, and that was it. He started to feel sick to his stomach and could feel the fainting sensation coming on. He was able to get to the bed and lie down. The nurse gave him an alcohol pad to sniff, but it didn't work. The next thing mommy knew was that Daddy had passed out... The nurse didn't believe her at first when she told her, but as they watched daddy's legs start to slowing fall off the bed she stopped prepping mommy and moved over to daddy. He came too, but was so sick he couldn't even sit up. He tried a few times, but that was the worst idea ever. So while mommy was pushing, daddy lied on the couch with his eyes closed trying not to throw up everywhere. That didn't work either. Cienna arrived with as Dr. Terry put it, one push and a sneeze. Poor daddy, the nurses had to take the pictures for him. He couldn't even walk up to the room, so they wheeled him up before mommy and CC in a wheelchair. The nurses on the maternity ward, just started to laugh they couldn't figure out what had just happened. Its not everyday that a 6'4" grown man gets wheeled to the room.
Daddy couldn't sit up until 8 am that morning and this is the first time he had gotten to hold CC.
This is us loving on her when she got home finally!
Her first morning in her own room
She is going to be well protected and spoiled rotten!
The best Big Brothers a Girl could ask for!
